Code for Sustainable Homes

Since the official introduction of the Code for Sustainable Homes on 13 December 2006; the UK government has announced a mandatory requirement that all new homes built from May 2008 must be rated against the Code.

The Code measures sustainability of new homes against categories of design and construction; it uses a rating between 1 and 6; the highest being level 6, zero carbon. It's all about reducing energy during and after construction. The benefit of V-OSM is that it raises the benchmark for such standards; it focuses on each individual dwelling rather than just the entire scheme, so there is more emphasis on constant quality control.

We at Hunter understand the Code requirements and have ensured our system delivers in all the right categories, such as material chain of custody, water usage, energy consumption and the like. Considering we maximise on the factory related credits, it therefore means the expensive bolt-on items are significantly reduced and in certain cases removed. Due to the predictability in our manufacturing we can easily achieve Code level 4 and can offer a cost effective solution for the move towards zero carbon.
